In 1990, Cal Bros. Auto Maintenance and Engineering engaged a well known outside consulting company to implement a division-wide program borrowed from the Just-In-Time philosophy to achieve employee continuous improvement teams. In Auto Maintenance, we had some successes and some failures.
Later I witnessed MTRU trying the same approach, again with mixed results. This experience has given me some firsthand knowledge of what works and what doesn’t. It is not as straightforward as the consultants engaged by USA made it out to be.
